DR. CHARLES W. MCMURRY

Dr. Charles Wesley McMurry, “God’s Man Servant,” was born on Independence Day, July 4, 1928. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a revival conducted by his sister Mother Mabel Smith. He has been in God's ministry for over forty-four years and has twenty-seven years of pastoral experience.

Pastor McMurry has worked in various capacities during these forty-four years of ministry including but not limited to: Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Trustee, Usher Board, Assistant Pastor of North End C.O.G.I.C. in Detroit, Michigan, Pastor of Macedonia C.O.G.I.C. in Asheville, North Carolina, President of YPWW, Chairman of the Deacon Board and Brotherhood. Dr. McMurry is nationally known for working close with Vanessa Bell Armstrong and her father at North End C.O.G.I.C. and the Clark Sisters whom are all from Detroit , Michigan .

Pastor McMurry also exemplified excellence in working outside of the church. With over 50 years in tax preparation experience he has had the distinct honor of preparing taxes for Mattie Moss Clark and Twinkie Clark. Pastor McMurry was employed at Chrysler in Detroit , Michigan as the Financial Secretary and was the Rehabilitated Alcoholics & Drug Addicts Coordinator. Before retiring in 1981 he was responsible for In-Collective Bargaining Prayer Room at Chrysler.

This dynamic man of God has received several honors such as an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from J. S. Bailey Cathedral in Detroit , Michigan for his contributions to the community and strong commitment to humanity. Superintendent McMurry served as: A Special Assistant to Bishop Leroy J. Woolard, Bishop of the Greater North Carolina Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, member of the Pulpit Forum in Greensboro , and was honored by the Fayetteville District Birthday Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Leak in 2006.

All praises be to God that on August 20, 1970 Supt. McMurry was ordained as an Elder which lead him to Rescue Temple #1 C.O.G.I.C. February 1987 where he was elected Pastor with a unanimous vote and then was officially installed as Pastor and Superintendent of the Sanford District in February 1988 by Bishop L. B. Davenport.

With all of the experience and commended honors under his belt, none can compare to his experience of God uniting him with “Mrs. Marvelous”, Elect Lady Evelyn McMurry. The two have been married for eleven years and she is a jewel in his eye sight. Her price is far above any award or recognition. Elect Lady McMurry is uniquely ordained by God to “take care of God's Man Servant.” She was born and raised for such a time as this to make sure that Pastor McMurry’s latter days are greater than his past.

With each stride he takes he exemplifies a true servant after God’s own heart.
Although his walk is smooth, he is great in stature as he leads God’s people with a gentle heart and a stern staff. Dr. Charles Wesley McMurry is truly worthy of recognition and praise.

We love this MAN OF ESTEEM AND VALOR. Pastor McMurry is GOD’S chosen vessel that is determined to lead the people of God in victory and get God's people to heaven saved and safe, . He continues to let the world know that necessity is upon him and he will tell the truth; and for this thousands of people are forever thankful. The fruit that he has produced in his life time is quite evident across the nation as he continues preaching and teaching the WORD of GOD.
